CHEESE IMPORTER, WHOLESALER, EDUCATOR

Essex Street Cheese Co. is a cheese importer and wholesaler that focuses on a limited number of perfectly ripened classic cheeses, specially selected at the source. We sell great cheese to distributors and, in some cases, directly to retailers.

We are cheesemongers ourselves. We offer cheesemonger training and education at your business.

WHO WE ARE

Leah Lewis
Logistics leader. Leah imports our cheeses and manages all aspects of your order. She has been in the cheese business for nearly two decades, working at Artisanal Cheese, Zabar’s and Neal’s Yard Dairy.

Rachel Juhl
Sales, education, media. Originally a cheesemonger at her mom’s shop, Juhl has worked at cheese counters around America including Di Bruno Bros., BKLYN Larder, Cowgirl Creamery and Zingerman’s Delicatessen.

Jess Perrie
Sales, science, education. Jess is an educator and specialist in food safety. Formerly a cheesemaker a Silver Moon Creamery and Drake Family Farms. Jess has worked on bovine health analysis on farms in Tanzania and Maine and holds a masters in cheese chemistry.

Jason Hinds
Partner in Essex Street Cheese Co. Jason guides cheesemongers to the sources of our cheese. He sources new cheeses and hand selects Essex Comté. Formerly a cheesemonger and current partner at Neal’s Yard Dairy in London, he is also a founding partner of Borough Cheese, an importer, wholesaler and retailer in England.

Mo Frechette
Partner in Essex Street Cheese. Mo directs the company. Formerly a cheesemonger at Zingerman’s Delicatessen, he is also a founding partner at Zingerman’s Mail Order, the online and catalog food shop based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
